NORTH WEST LEGISLATURE’S CHAIRPERSON OF COMMITTEE CONTINUES COMMUNITY OUTREACH WITH DONATION OF 100 SCHOOL SHOES TO SARUCHERA PRIMARY SCHOOL

The Chairperson of Chairpersons of Committees in the North West Provincial Legislature, Hon. Tebogo Modise, has continued her community outreach programme with the donation of 100 pairs of school shoes to learners at Saruchera Primary School in Vryburg, in the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District.

The latest donation builds on the 25 pairs of school shoes previously donated to the school, bringing the total number of pairs provided through the initiative to 125.

The continued intervention is aimed at assisting learners from indigent and vulnerable households who face challenges in accessing basic school necessities. For many families, the cost of school uniforms, shoes and other educational essentials can place an additional financial burden on already constrained household budgets.

Hon. Modise said the decision to continue supporting Saruchera Primary School was informed by the need to ensure that the outreach programme responds to the realities faced by children and families in disadvantaged communities.

“Our responsibility does not end when an event is over. When we identify children who need assistance, we must do what we can to respond to that need. A pair of school shoes may seem like a small contribution, but for a child who does not have proper shoes to wear to school, it can restore dignity, confidence and a sense of belonging. We will continue to look for meaningful ways to support our children and ensure that poverty does not become a barrier to their education,” said Hon. Modise.

The donation further underscores the importance of placing the needs and wellbeing of children at the centre of community development initiatives. Providing learners with essential school items contributes not only to their dignity but also to creating an environment in which they can participate in school activities with confidence and concentrate on their education.

Hon. Modise emphasised that sustainable community support requires continued engagement with communities and an understanding of their changing needs.

“We cannot only assist our communities when there is a particular commemorative occasion. The needs of our children exist throughout the year, and our interventions must therefore also be sustained. We want these learners to know that they matter, that their future matters, and that as leaders and members of society, we have a collective responsibility to invest in them,” said Hon. Modise.

The continued outreach at Saruchera Primary School reflects a commitment to practical community intervention and to supporting learners who are most in need. It also reinforces the broader call for individuals, institutions and community stakeholders to contribute towards improving the lives of vulnerable children and creating opportunities for them to thrive.
