The Chairperson of Chairpersons of Committees in the Legislature, Hon. Tebogo Modise conducted an oversight visits at Mojamorago and Rankudu Primary Schools in Mahikeng. The oversight visits are part of the programme where Members of the legislature assess the schools’ readiness for the 2025 learning and teaching period.
Amongst others, the schools have indicated fair readiness for the school year which includes registration of learners, learning and teaching in place and delivery of learning and teaching materials which commenced a day before schools’ opening, National Schools Nutrition Programme is in place and cleaning campaigns by the schools governing bodies.
During the festive season, both schools experienced vandalism of electrical material and broken ceiling which affected supply of electricity. Rankudu Primary School was mostly affected as it does not have electricity and uses a generator for power. The ceiling in most classrooms is damaged.
Hon. Modise said the Legislature will consult the department on how it can assist the schools to resolve vandalism and theft of electrical material and other matters such as broken ceiling.
