The Portfolio Committee on Education, Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation led by the Chairperson, Hon. Boitumelo Moiloa visited Ikageleng Secondary School, Ikageleng Stadium and Dinokana Cultural Village all in the Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality.

The visit forms part of the oversight week that the North West Provincial Legislature is conducting in various municipalities under the Ngaka Modiri Molema District from the 6-9 February 2024.
The program is aimed at strengthening oversight and public participation and to promote accountability and transparency in government.

At Ikageleng Secondary, the school has not performed well received only 57% pass rate for the 2023 matric results. The Principal Mr Setlhoho blamed the poor performance on the ill-discipline of learners which has been exacerbated by overcrowding in classrooms, dagga usage, etc. He said the school is in the process of being renovated but the contractor is taking longer than expected due to issues relating to payments and all. The Committee will hold a meeting with the department to try and assist to speed up process the renovations.

At Ikageleng stadium and Dinokana Cultural Village, the committee found both facilities without security and no proper fencing at the Cultural Village. The Committee resolved to call the Department of Arts, Culture Sport and Recreation to come and account on their plans for the centre as these facilities can be vandalized and be used by criminals.
