Portfolio Committee on Health and Social Development led by Hon Gavin Edwards held an oversight meeting with the Department of Health over first Quarter Performance Report for the 2023/24 financial year.
MEC for the Department of Health, Madoda Sambatha informed the Committee that the department achieved 86 percent of their targets on 8 programmes. “Major factors that contributes to challenges include non-pregnancy infections on HIV, hypertension, smoking and other infectious diseases, and shortage of ambulances, high volume of x-ray calls from Moses Kotane Hospital and construction work permit issued late for finalization of designs,” said MEC Sambatha.
