The North West Provincial Legislature’s Standing Committee on Oversight of the North West Provincial Legislature led by Hon Jacquiline Theologo held a meeting with the caretaker in the North West province for the Public Service Commission (PSC), Professor Mandla Makhanya along with the senior management of PSC.

The PSC presented on their 2021/22 annual report and their implementation plan on how to improve the functionality of public service. The committee commended the clean audit outcome that PSC achieved for the past three financial years.

Amongst some of the achievements attained by the PSC was that there were no audit report findings for the 2021/22 financial year, no material errors on the annual financial statements, no irregular, fruitless, wasteful and unauthorised expenditure occurred and no cases of employees doing business with the state.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) was established in terms of Section 196 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996. The PSC is supported by the Office of the Public Service Commission (OPSC), headed by the Director-General who is the Accounting Officer.
The mission of the PSC is to promote the constitutionally enshrined democratic principles and values of the public service by investigating, researching, monitoring, evaluating, communicating and reporting on public administration.
