The Chairperson of the North West Legislature Portfolio Committee on Community Safety and Transport Management, Hon. Freddy Sonakile, will appear before the Human Rights Commission’s Investigative Inquiry into scholar transport challenges in the North West.
The meeting is scheduled as follows:

The Inquiry aims to assess the extent of scholar transport challenges, analyse the demographics of affected communities, examine the root causes, evaluate the impact on learners and their human rights, and propose measures to address these issues.
Running from 11 to 13 March 2025 at Protea Hotel in Mahikeng, the Inquiry will hear evidence from various stakeholders. Hon. Sonakile will present the findings, recommendations, and resolutions of the Legislature’s portfolio committee, which has been actively investigating scholar transport issues since the inception of the 7th Legislature.
