The Auditor General South Africa, Ms Tsakane Maluleke briefed the Speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature, Hon. Desbo Mohono, Premier Lazarus Mokgosi, Chief Whip Hon. Motlalepula Rosho, the Acting MEC for Treasury, MEC Sussana Dantjie and some Members of the North West Provincial Legislature on the 2023/24 Provincial Audit Outcomes.
In her presentation the AG has highlighted improved Audit Outcomes for the province but insisted that more work needs to be done. She said the Premier’s Office as the coordinator of government needs to reinforce clear lines of accountability and must regularly convene performance reviews with the MEC so that all responsible leaders should be held accountable.
On treasury the AG highlighted that there should a technical support team to assist the departments and entities on persistent performance information and compliance with key legislation. For the Legislature in their Oversight role, the portfolio Committees when doing their work plans must include tracking of recommendations to ensure that they are fully implemented and adhered to.
