On Wednesday, 28 February 2024, the Portfolio Committee on Economic Development, Environment, Tourism, Agriculture and Rural Development will be conducting public hearings throughout the province on the National Small Enterprise Amendment Bill [B 16B -2023] at Motswedi Community Hall in Motswedi near Lehurutshe; Matlosana Ballroom Hall in Klerksdorp; Utlwanang Community Hall in Utlwanang, Christiana and White Hall in Brits at 10h00.

The National Small Enterprise Amendment Bill [B 16B -2023] aims to amend the National Small Enterprise Act, 1996, in order to amend, delete, insert and to substitute certain definitions; to provide for the report of the Advisory Body; to provide for the establishment of the Small Enterprise Development Finance Agency; to provide for the functions of the Agency and to ensure the provision of financial and non-financial support services to small enterprises.

On Thursday, 29 February 2024, the Portfolio Committee on Portfolio Committee on Public Works and Roads, Community Safety and Transport Management will be conducting public hearings throughout the province on the Marine Pollution ( Prevention of Pollution from Ships) Amendment Bill [B5-2022] and Transport Appeal Tribunal Amendment Bill [B8B-2020] at Madibogo Community Hall in Madibogo; Tshing Ext 4 Community Hall in Ventersdorp; Ga Mariba Tribal Hall in Morokweng and Letlhabile Community Hall near Brits at 10h00.

The Marine Pollution ( Prevention of Pollution from Ships) Amendment Bill [B5-2022] aims to amend the Marine Pollution (Prevention of Pollution from Ships) Act, 1986, so as to give effect to Annex IV of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, to incorporate the 1997 Protocol in order to give effect to Annex VI of the Convention; and to provide for matters connected therewith.

The Transport Appeal Tribunal Amendment Bill [B8B-2020] aims to amend the Transport Appeal Tribunal Act, 1998, so as to insert, delete and amend certain definitions; to bring the Act in line with the developments since the enactment of the Act; to provide for certain powers of the Transport Appeal Tribunal; to allow the Minister to extend the term of office of the members of the Tribunal; to empower the Transport Appeal Tribunal to take appropriate steps in cases where its rulings are not implemented or effected timeously and empower it to investigate delays in the completion of its proceedings; and to provide for matters connected therewith.

Relevant stakeholders have been invited to attend the public hearings.
