On Friday, 19 January 2024, the Deputy Speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature, Hon Lena Miga proceeded to conduct unannounced oversight visits at Lichtenburg Hoerskool and Sesanko Primary School to check the school’s readiness for the 2024 school year.
The Deputy Speaker noted and appreciated the level of discipline and conduct of learners enrolled at both schools and commended both principals for the work and commitment in ensuring that learners arrive at school on time and produce optimum results.
“Am happy to witness that both schools started well with no distractions or any challenges, that all teachers are present in schools and the amount of cleanliness both observed inside and outside of the schools premises,” said Hon Miga
917 learners have been enrolled at Lichtenburg Hoerskool whereas 715 learners have been enrolled at Sesanko Primary School.
The Deputy Speaker commended the overall performance paas rate of 92,7% at Lichtenburg High School, where amongst others received 121 bachelor admissions, 41 diploma, and 10 students who received higher certificates, as well 188 number of subject distinctions.
Hon Miga noted all challenges presented at both schools and recommended to refer them to the relevant departments to fast track progress.
