On Thursday, 18 January 2024, the Deputy Speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature, Hon Lena Miga conducted an unannounced oversight visit at Boiteko Primary school located in Itsoseng as part of assessing the school’s readiness for the 2024 school year.
Boiteko Primary School was built in 1966, and currently has 703 learners that are enrolled at the school. Hon Miga commended the principal of the school for ensuring that learners attend school on time and that the school is well maintained and clean, despite several challenges at the school.
Amongst some of the challenges noted was that the school does not have a security fence, which has been stolen on several occasions, there is no electricity and a dilapidated abolition system that is not conducive to the health, safety and well-being of learners.
Hon Miga noted all challenges mentioned and made recommendations to forward and address all matters with the relevant department that would be able to assist the school with its current state of affairs.
The Deputy Speaker will continue to assess more schools located in the Ditsobotla Local Municipality on Friday, 19 Jan 2024
