The visit forms part of the Oversight Week that the North West Provincial Legislature is embarking on in the Bojanala district from the 10 – 13 October 2023.
The station is located within the Madibeng local municipality and services the Brits population of 698 619 people with over 12 million vehicle population. Madibeng has -6 villages and two towns that includes Hartebeespoort dam and Brits.The station is responsible for law enforcement activities such as; Drunken driving operations, speed monitoring, moving violations, unauthorised road transportation, inter-provincial and multi-purpose roadblocks, visible policing, abnormal vehicle escorts, protest activities and point duty at accident scenes.
Challenges that the station is faced with includes not having network to do data capturing. There is also a shortage of tools of trade e.g. torches, alcohol testers, blood kits and uniform, pool vehicles and training programmes for promoted staff.
Hon. Cwaile welcomed the presentation and commended the traffic station for a report that shows that a lot of work has been done. He also appreciated the grander balance in the staff complement especially in senior management as the station is led by a female, Ms Control Ramasodi.
Hon Cwaile recommended that the senior management of the Department of Community Safety that were present in the meeting must submit to the committee within 7 working days the following reports;
1. Distribution and process plan of the vehicles purchased in the 2022/23 financial year
2. Report on Misconduct of Traffic Officials dating back 2019
3. Report on Aarto bill implementation plan for the province
4. Report on all ICT challenges that the traffic departments in the district have.
