As part of enhancing and promoting public participation in the North West Provincial Legislature (NWPL), Public Participation and Petition Division (PPP) in the NWPL held a workshop for service providers at the Rustenburg Local Municipality to amongst other teach them about Supply Chain requirements related to registration on the NWPL Database.
Public Participation and Petition Division (PPP) has scheduled the two days’ workshop which kick-started on the 14 – 15 September 2023 and will proceed to take place in Mogwase, where a target of 50 service providers in the Bojanala District are expected to attend the workshop.
Amongst other objectives of the workshops is to educate service providers on how to structure and compile quotations; to explain the difference between NWPL Database and the Central Supplier Database (CSD) for government as well as the importance of both and to also educate service providers on health compliance issues relating to the provision of catering services.
According to the NWPL Supply Chain Management Policy and Regulations, service providers are required to submit compliance documentation in response to the request for quotations that will be issued by the designated Supply Chain Management Practitioner within the NWPL. The policy and regulations further state that the service provider will be issued with a purchase order (PO) prior to the rendering of service. According to Treasury Regulations 8.2.3, all invoices must be paid within 30 days and the North West Provincial Legislature is still lacking in this regard.
PPP deemed the workshop as a necessary exercise to embark on, to not only create an awareness but to also assist the NWPL to achieve a clean audit, which will enhance one of its core mandates on oversight over the Executive.
Public Participation and Petition Division (PPP) bears a responsibility to educate citizens of the North West province on the role and functions of the Legislature, further capacitating them to have meaningful contribution in all legislative processes and activities in the North West Provincial Legislature so as to enhance informed and active citizenry.
