The Chief Whip of the Legislature, Hon. Paul Sebegoe together with Hon. Aaron Motswana and staff commemorated the Nelson Mandela Day at Itsoseng Service Club in Dominionville Informal Settlement in Klerksdorp in Matlosana Local Municipality, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality.
Hon. Sebegoe informed the beneficiaries and staff at the centre that the Nelson Mandela Day is important as it is meant to change the world and building a global movement for good.
The Legislature celebrated the day with older people in itsoseng service club and the community around Dominionville informal settlement. The Provincial Legislature invited the Department of Social Development and the Department of Home Affairs to assist with registration of children and identity documents for those who did not have; Social Development to register parents and children for social grants who have been struggling.
Hon. Sebego said the legislature will also encourage other Government Department to visit Dominionville settlement to come provide necessary service delivery such as Human Settlement Department and others.
After cleaning and painting the centre, Hon. Sebego and Hon. Motswana handed over groceries and blankets to older persons who belongs to itsoseng Service club. The Legislature also took time to reflect on Mandela’s values and principles and to make a positive impact in their own communities.
